US, China sympathize with Jolo bombing victims’ families

The embassies of the United States and China on Tuesday  expressed their condolences to the families of the victims of the twin explosions that rocked Jolo, Sulu Monday.

“I offer my sincerest condolences to the families and friends of the victims of yesterday’s bombings in Jolo,” said US Ambassador Sung Kim in a Twitter post.

“We join the Philippine government in condemning these attacks and will continue to support our Filipino partners to strengthen national security,” he added.

The Chinese Embassy also said it is “deeply shocked and saddened” by the incident.

“The Chinese Embassy in the Philippines join the Philippine government in condemning the attacks, and express sincere condolences to the injured and the bereaved families,” the statement said.

“At this moment of grief, our hearts are with the Philippine government and people,” it added.

Two female suicide bombers staged the attacks in Jolo, Sulu, killing 15 people and wounding 70 others. (Daily Tribune)
