Fans, drivers, engineers, even some advertisers think the new logo is a bust!!!

After Liberty Media bought the Formula 1 franchise from Bernie Ecclestone for 3.7 billion pounds, they announced drastic changes to the premier automobile race in the world.

Liberty Media’s Chase Carey announced that one of the changes to take effect at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was the presentation of the new logo. This is going to be the first time the F1 logo will be replaced after 23 years.

Come race Sunday, the new logo was released and the fans were aghast! It was not what they were expecting and the backlash on social media was immediate.

Here is the new Formula One logo:

Lewis Hamilton topped the list of critics when he said “The old logo was iconic, the new one isn’t. Imagine if Ferrari changed theirs.”

And here are some of the comments on Twitter after the release of the logo:

Well we did not want to trash the new logo, but we do want to compare this with the past so here is the past logos of Formula 1.

This logo was used from 1987-1993. (photo from F1 History)

And this is the logo the current design replaced used from 1993-2018. (photo from F1 History)

So what do you think? Is the new Formula One logo that bad? Which of the old ones would you prefer?
