Applications for student drivers licenses is suspended beginning July 1 to August 3 pending implementation of the new requirements for acquiring drivers licenses.

Under the new LTO guidelines, all student drivers license applicant will have to undergo 15-hours of theoretical education before they can be awarded a student license.

LTO head Assistant Secretary Edgar Galvante says the new requirement aims to better driving education of Filipinos who seem to lack basic knowledge of traffic rules and regulations.

Galvante says LTO is in the process of integrating the 15-hour classroom education in their drivers license application hence the temporary halt in student license application processing.
