Thirty countries led by United State and Thailand began Tuesday, Southeast Asia’s biggest and longest-running military exercises.

More than 8,000 troops from 30 countries are taking part in the Cobra Gold exercise held in northeastern Thailand.

According to an official press release, this year’s training includes command and control exercises, humanitarian assistance, field drills, cyber defence, space operations, and counter-drone strategies, reflecting the evolving nature of modern warfare, according to military officials.

The 44th Cobra Gold exercise runs until March 7.
