After asking her supporters to back President Rodrigo Duterte VP bid in 2022, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Caprio and brother Vice Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte will seek re-election in May 2022, according to her spokesperson.

“Yes, this is confirmed. Mayor Sara and Vice Mayor Baste will run for reelection in Davao City, Liloan, Cebu Mayor Christina Frasco told media

Frasco is the daughter of Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia was appointed spokesperson in anticipation of the consultations of the Mayor with officials, sectors, and groups in Cebu for the 2022 election, prior to President Duterte’ acceptance of VP nomination of his party PDP-Laban Cusi faction.

Davao del Norte Governor Anthony del Rosario remains as Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HnP)  spokesperson.

For the past months, the Davao City mayor has been floated as a possible presidential bet — as she has been a frontrunner in several election surveys.

However, the mayor said she will not be vying for the country’s top post should her father President Rodrigo Duterte push through with his vice presidential bid.

The chief executive already declared he would be running for the position.
