Residents that will be affected by granular lockdown to get food,not cash-MMC chair

Metro Manila Council (MMC) chairman and Paranaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez on Wednesday, said residents covered by granular lockdown starting Thursday (September 16) will only receive food packs from their respective local government units, not cash.

The Local Government Units (LGU) will determine what particular area will be place under a 14-day granular lockdowns base on the number of  COVID-19 cases, while the Department of Health will determine the Alert Level of a particular region base on the number of COVID -19 infection and hospital capacity.

The 14-day granular lockdowns will cover houses, buildings, streets or subdivisions, officials.

“Wala pong financial [assistance] po ‘yan, food pack po ang itutulong ng ating gobyerno,” Olivarez said.

Earlier, Deputy Minority Leader and Marikina Rep. Stella Quimbo urged the national government to hand out cash aid during granular lockdowns.

She noted some P15.9 billion would remain unused from the budget of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
