If Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio decided to pursue a presidential bid in 2022, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte will not run for vice president, PDP-Laban party mate and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said Wednesday.

Likewise, President Duterte, in the same meeting, disclosed that Senator Bong Go will also not run for presidency in next year elections, if his pursue a presidential bid.

“Yes, he said that. ‘Yung Duterte-Duterte, he’s not convinced that it should happen in 2022,” Nograles said in a television interview

Mayor Duterte has yet to bare her definite plans for 2022 although she has expressed openness in running for president.

In July, however, Anthony del Rosario, secretary general of the Sara Duterte-led Hugpong ng Pagbabago, said she will not run for president if her father will pursue the vice presidency.

Meanwhile, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque has yet to comment on why the part of Duterte’s speech about not running if Mayor Duterte would seek the presidency was edited out.

Before the President’s speech, Nograles, in his capacity as PDP-Laban executive vice president, announced that Duterte has agreed to run for vice president next year.

Duterte himself confirmed this in his televised address.
