PNP says crime rate dips by 18.4% in Jan.-Mar 2025

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said Wednesday crime rate across the country decreased by 18.4% in January to March 2025.
The PNP said that the total cases of focus crimes dropped from 8,950 incidents recorded between November 3, 2024 and January 11, 2025 to 7,301 incidents from January 12 to March 22, 2025.
The eight focus crimes in the country include murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, and carnapping of vehicles, and carnapping of motorcycles.
Murder cases declined from 1,535 to 1,243, while homicide and physical injury went down from 1,341 to 1,021; and from 1,002 to 663, respectively.
The PNP noted that crimes like carnapping remained “relatively stable, with minor fluctuations.”
Reduction of crimes in the National Capital Region, Calabarzon, and Central Visayas were observed.
