PH Navy on readiness in West PH Sea

The Philippine Navy said Philippines’ defense capability is “stronger than before” after the newest warship BRP Miguel Malvar (FFG06), arrived at the Naval Operating Base Subic, Zambales
Rear Adm. Roy Vincent Trinidad, the Philippine Navy’s spokesperson on the West Philippine Sea, said the procurement of advanced, newer equipment, and new ships, as the country faces aggressions in the West Philippine Sea.
“Little by little umangat naman. And then for the past 10 to 15 years, hindi lang ang Navy kundi pati ang Air Force at Army… lumakas ang ating overall capability,” Trinidad said.
Meanwhile, asked whether or not the country sees a deployment of Navy ships in the West Philippine Sea should Chinese aggression become more intense, Trinidad said there are already ships there.
Earlier this week, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) expressed full support for the call of Defense Secretary Gilberto Jr. to speed up the implementation of the military’s modernization program due to evolving security challenges and rapid technological changes.
