President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is studying a proposal to adopt a four-day workweek as part of efforts to conserve energy in anticipation of the effects of US-Israel Iran war.

Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said the President looking into the into the suggestion in preparation, in case the Middle East crisis worsen.

In a press briefing, Castro said at present, the President may study the suggestion, especially if the Israel-Iran issue escalates. For now, it has not yet been discussed.

Earlier, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian proposed a four-day workweek with one work-from-home day to help ease the burden of rising oil prices on the public.

The proposal came after Marcos directed government offices and agencies to find ways to conserve energy amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East that have affected global oil prices.

“We have given instructions to all government offices to find ways to save energy. This is also my call to the public,” Marcos said.

“Let’s find ways to reduce our use of all sources of energy,” he added.
