A Pasig City Regional Trial Court has ordered the transfer of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Apollo Quiboloy back to jail from a hospital.
Pasig City RTC -Branch 159 Judge ordered, on Wednesday that Quiboloy be transferred back to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) facility in Pasig City “unless there is a clear showing that accused Quiboloy is actually suffering from a medical condition requiring immediate and specialized attention.”
“The court further noted that the BJMP is equipped with adequate medical facilities to assist accused Quiboloy should an urgent need arise,” Domingo said in a message.
In January, Quiboloy was allowed to stay in a government hospital as he was allegedly suffering from pneumonia.
Domingo said Quiboloy’s camp requested for him to be allowed to remain in the hospital and to record videos for his senatorial bid.
“The prosecution most especially the private prosecutors deem his claim to be sick doubtful since as a candidate, it is a requirement to be fit and healthy to serve the Filipino people,” she said.
“We deem this a mockery to the intellect of the people. Nabobobohan ba sya sa mga tao na sabihin nya puwede sya maging senador pero sa korte sasabihin nya nanghihina sya at kelangan nya nasa hospital? (Does he think the people are stupid that he can get away with being elected senator, but tells the court that he is weak and that he needs to be in the hospital),” she added.
Quiboloy is currently facing a non-bailable qualified human trafficking charge under Section 4(a) of Republic Act 9208, as amended, before the Pasig court.
The Davao City-based religious leader is also facing charges under Section 5(b) and Section 10(a) of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.
