MANILA – The low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone but its trough is expected to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas during the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on Monday.

The northeast monsoon, meanwhile, continues to prevail over Northern and Central Luzon, said Obet Badrina of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

As such, the provinces of Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela and Aurora will experience light rains.

It will also bring isolated light rains over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of Central Luzon and Cagayan Valley.

“Mindanao and the rest of the Visayas will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms. Rains are likely in the afternoon or evening,” Badrina said.

Moderate to rough seas will prevail over Northern Luzon.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas.

The LPA, last spotted 995 km. east of the Visayas, might move towards the Visayas and Bicol Region in the next days, Badrina added.

“This may cause rains in the Visayas, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa starting Wednesday,” he added.

Moderate to heavy rains may result in flash floods or landslides, PAGASA’s advisory said. (PNA)
