The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said a one month dry run of the odd-even scheme on EDSA will be implemented starting June 16, instead of one week as earlier announced.
MMDA clarified the odd-even scheme on EDSA will replace the regular coding scheme during the rebuilding of EDSA.
But regular coding scheme remain in other areas outside of EDSA.
Under the scheme, vehicles with plates ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 will not be allowed on EDSA on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays while vehicles with plates ending in: 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 will be prohibited during Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
On the other hand, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said free toll fees in certain area of the Skyway Stage 3 are also being implemented to reduce EDSA traffic by 25 percent.
The EDSA rebuild is set to start on June 13, while the toll in parts of Skyway Stage 3 will be waived by July or August when the construction goes “full blast”, the DOTr said.
