North Luzon Expressway operator NLEX Corp., said it began construction of the new Lingunan Southbound Entry in Valenzuela City.
NLEX Corp. said this private-public initiative with the Valenzuela City government will improve traffic congestion in the city, by providing an alternative entry point for motorists at the Paso de Blas Interchange.
The company added motorists will soon have another option to access the toll road through another entry plaza in the southbound direction of Brgy. Lingunan in Valenzuela City.
The new 491-meter entry ramp, scheduled for completion in April, is seen to help decongest traffic along Valenzuela’s local roads.
The construction of the new southbound entry will strengthen it as a growing industrial and commercial center. We in MPTC (Metro Pacific Tollways Corp.) and NLEX want to help harness that economic potential,” said MPTC president and COO Arrey Perez.
Meanwhile, Valenzuela City Mayor Wes Gatchalian said that “the construction of the southbound entry in Brgy. Lingunan will provide motorists with an alternative route to reduce traffic congestion in Lawang Bato, Punturin, Maysan, Paso de Blas, and East Service Road.”
“We are very pleased to work with NLEX and TRB on these traffic solutions for all road users,” said Gatchalian.
NLEX Corp. said it has worked closely with the Valenzuela City government to improve travel experience in the area.
In 2010, the company said it provided motorists with new entry and exit options to the expressway from the east of Valenzuela, via Mindanao Avenue.
Five years later, the tollway company said it further improved access with the Karuhatan Toll Plaza for westbound traffic.
Meanwhile, the Lingunan Southbound Exit was opened in 2017 and became an alternative route for vehicles traveling from the north to northern Valenzuela.
This was followed by the construction of the Mapulang Lupa Overpass and the Lawang Bato Northbound Exit in 2019, according to NLEX Corp.
NLEX Corp. is a subsidiary of the MPTC, the toll road arm of Pangilinan-led conglomerate Metro Pacific Investments Corp.
