A local court in The Netherlands will determined if the arrest made against former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte was proper before later face the International Criminal Court, Malacanang said.

Early Wednesday, Duterte’s group arrived in Dubai, for a lay over before proceeding to The Hague.

On board a Gulfstream G550 aircraft (RP-C5219) the group left Villamor Air Base Tuesday night, arrived at the Al Maktoum International Airport at 4:03 a.m. (Dubai time) or 8:03 a.m. Manila time.

After more than an hour or at 5:15 a.m. (Dubai time), the same plane is expected to fly to Rotterdam Airport.

“The former president will face charges of crimes against humanity in relation to his bloody war on drugs, before the ICC”, Malacanang added.

The Philippine National Police led by Director General Rommel Marbil led the arrest of Duterte upon arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport terminal 3 upon arrival from Hongkong.

The ICC has been investigating Duterte and other top officials of his administration for crimes against humanity over the alleged systematic drug war deaths in police operations.

Meanwhile, Vice President Sara Duterte left the country Wednesday to fly to Amsterdam, the Netherlands, following the arrest of her father.

In a message to reporters, the OVP said that the Vice President departed Manila at approximately 7:40 a.m., via Emirates flight no. EK 337, bound for Amsterdam.
