MMDA Gives Go Signal For MRT Railworks
The rail adjustment works of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) 3 has received the go signal from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA). The adjustments will take place this month on a portion of EDSA in Pasay City. According to MMDA Acting General Manager Jojo Garcia, the adjustment works will run for a month and will affect the EDSA-northbound in Tramo area.
“The train rails need to be fixed in preparation for the additional coaches of the MRT 3. We will try to retain the four to five lanes for private and public utility vehicles.” said Garcia.
Garcia added that the department’s private contractor would occupy 20-30 meters of EDSA’s inner lane in Tramo.
After obtaining clearance from the MMDA, the private contractor still needs to secure clearance from Pasay City before proceeding with the project.
Traffic enforcers will be deployed in the area when the project starts to avoid inconvenience to the public although only minimal impact on traffic is expected.
