Marcos jr. picked Nicolas Torre is next PNP chief

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has chosen Police Major General Nicolas Torre III as the next chief of the Philippine National Police.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said Torre will replace outgoing PNP chief Police General Rommel Marbil, whose extended term is set to expire on June 7.
Torre led recent high-profile cases, including the search for and eventual arrest of televangelist Apollo Quiboloy in Davao City, prior to his promotion as Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) chief.
As CIDG chief, Torre also served the warrant of arrest to former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Torre has earned his stripes leading the Quezon City Police District, Davao region police, Western Samar Provincial Police Office, as well as Batangas City and Mabalacat police stations.
He also has experience in intelligence and field operations, including stints in the Central Luzon and Mimaropa police.
