Marcos Jr. declares June 6, 2025 a regular holiday for Eid’l Adha

Malacañang has declared June 6, 2025, Friday, a regular holiday in observance of Eid’l Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice, a major Muslim celebration.
Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin said Proclamation No. 911,declaring June 6,2025 a holiday was signed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. last May 21.
The date of the celebration was chosen based on the recommendation of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos following the Hijrah Islamic Lunar Calendar.
Eid’l Adha is one of the two major Muslin holidays. It commemorates Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son as ordered by Allah.
To remember and celebrate, Muslim families will sacrifice an animal which will be divided into three parts: one for the family, one shared with relatives, and one for the needy and less fortunate.
