Hype, Hirna Join Grab As New TNC’s
The LTFRB has approved today, 18 April 2018, two new Transport Network Companies (TNC) adding new players to fill the vacuum created by Uber’s departure from the country which Grab has been taking advantage of.
LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra III together with Board Members Aileen Lizada and Ronaldo Corpus signed Accreditation Numbers 2018-TNC-001 for Hype Transport Systems and 2018-TNC-002 for Hirna Mobility Solutions, giving both transport companies permission operate as TNC’s for two years.
Delgra said this should ease the concern initially expressed by commuters, senators and congressmen that Grab may turn into a monopoly and abuse the situation.
Many commuters have already expressed dismay that Grab’s quality of service have deteriorated. Grab was earlier scored for implementing a per minute travel charge which was not approved by the LTFRB.
Hype is one of the early applicants to replace Uber that Lizada earlier announced. Hirna, meanwhile, is a Davao based transport company similar to Uber and Grab that has wants to expand to Metro Manila.
Four other TNC – Owto, Go Lad, MiCab and U-Hop, have submitted their application to LTFRB and are awaiting the result of their respective hearings.
