MANILA – Most parts of the country will experience rain showers caused by the southwest monsoon or “habagat,” the weather bureau said Tuesday.

This will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Zambales, and Bataan.

Moderate to heavy rains in those areas could result in flash floods and landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4 a.m. weather bulletin.

The habagat will also bring isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Zamboanga Peninsula, Western Visayas, the rest of Mimaropa, Cavite, Laguna, and Batangas.

The rest of the country will experience isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned that flash floods or landslides are also possible during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the whole country will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.

No tropical cyclone was seen to affect or enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility, according to PAGASA forecaster Rhea Torres.

“We expect that the southwest monsoon will continue to affect a large portion of the country in the next few days,” Torres said. (PNA)
