Gov’t work, classes suspended in NCR due to bad weather
MANILA – Malacañang has ordered the suspension of classes and work in all government offices in Metro Manila on Thursday afternoon due to inclement weather condition brought about by the southwest monsoon and Typhoons Goring and Hanna.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, by authority of the President, issued Memorandum Circular 29 on Thursday, ordering the suspension of government work and classes in public schools in Metro Manila.
“Upon recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), and in view of the continuous rainfall brought about by the Southwest Monsoon, and Super typhoons ‘Goring’ and ‘Hanna,’ work in government offices and classes at all levels in the National Capital Region are hereby suspended on 31 August 2023, effective 3:00 PM,” MC 29 read.
Government agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services will continue with their operations and render the necessary services, according to the memorandum circular.
The suspension of work for private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads.
MC 29 takes effect immediately. (PNA)
