eGovPH issued the fraud alert to Filipinos against scammers who contact unsuspecting victims and offer supposed assistance in registering or verifying their registration on the eGovPH app.

In a Facebook post, eGovPH said spoofers are contacting their victims through calls, email, or chat to supposedly offer help in registering for eGovPH.

The scammers would ask their victims to download a fake or spoofed app mimicking the eGovPH app from a fake website.

The advisory added that the suspects would also ask victims to accomplish forms and take live selfies of the victims.

This is dangerous! If you follow these steps, your account might be compromised and your mobile wallets and digital bank accounts emptied. Be careful and do not be duped by spoofers!, the Facebook post said.

Filipinos were advised to report such incidents to the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) through its toll-free, 24/7 hotline at 1326 or through email at report@cicc.gov.ph.

Complaints may be also filed through eReport on the legitimate eGovPH app, which can be downloaded through Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and Huawei App Gallery.
