DPWH announced EDSA rehab could be delayed to 2027

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said the rehabilitation of EDSA could be pushed back to 2027.
Works Secretary Manny Bonoan said construction of EDSA next year is not possible due to 2026 ASEAN to be held in the country.
Bonoan added that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. strictly instructed to ensure no traffic disruption during the holding of ASEAN.
He also said that the agency is mulling only doing roadworks at night to minimize the disruption to traffic along the major thoroughfare.
Last June, President Ferdinand Macos, Jr. asked the DPWH to rethink the planned rebuilding of the capital region’s busiest thoroughfare.
The rebuild would have seen the implementation of an “odd-even” scheme restricting use of Metro Manila’s main artery to 2-3 times a week–a proposal that received public backlash.
