DOTR Gets Double Its Budget For 2020
Ten government agencies will get huge budget cuts in the proposed P4.1 trillion 2020 national budget according to congress.
Under the National Expenditure Program submitted by the Department of Budget Management to the Lower House, included in the fund decrease will be the Department of Health (DOH), Industry (DTI), Labor and Employment (DOLE), and the Information and Technology (DICT).
The DBM will get the biggest budget cut from the current P3.64 billion to a mere P2.33 billion for next year.
Following DBM with the biggest fund decrease will be the Office of the Ombudsman which will get P3.15 billion next year, down by 32.99 percent from this years P4.7 billion.
Meanwhile, the beleaguered Department of Transportation, consistently hit for traffic and infrastructure problems, will get more than double their current budget for this year. The DOTr will get P147 billion in 2020, a 111.8 percent increase from this years P69.4 billion.
Last year, the 2019 national budgets suffered huge cuts tnat, acording to the DBM was caused by the shift of the budgeting system from obligations-based budget to a cash-based budget system.
