DOJ wants Zaldy Co to be placed in Interpol notice

The Department of Justice (DOJ) “will request for [a] blue notice” to Interpol against Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co after he was implicated in billions of anomalous flood control project.
A Blue Notice alerts the world’s largest international police organization to “collect additional information about a person’s identity, location or activities in relation to a criminal investigation,” according to the Interpol’s website.
Co, former chairperson of the House Committee on Appropriations, was accused of “masterminding” last-minute insertions in the allegedly “highly irregular” 2025 national budget, and of supposedly receiving kickbacks from flood control projects, which he denied.
Several witnesses who appeared before the Senate have also alleged that billions-worth of kickbacks from various government projects were being delivered to his properties in Pasig and Taguig in recent years.
Last week, the House Speaker revoked Co’s travel clearance and gve him until September 29 to return to the country and “address pressing national matters” or risk facing disciplinary and legal actions.
Co responded to the letter and claimed that he intends to return to the Philippines to face the allegations “in the proper forum,” but he did not specify a specific date.
