Independent research group OCTA Research on Thursday announced that COVID-19 reproduction number in Metro Manila continue to improve after it decrease to 0.99 from 1.03 in its last report.

“Huling nag-less than one yan nung July pa, nung bago nagka-surge, sana tuloy-tuloy na ang recovery natin,” Dr. Guido David of OCTA Research said.

Reproduction number refers to the number of people that each case can infect.

David also said based on projections, hospital situation in the NCR is likely to improve early to middle of October.

At a forum on Tuesday, David said the Philippines could possibly be in the last stages of its battle against the Delta coronavirus variant, especially in Metro Manila, amid the decrease in the reproduction number.

David said the recent number of cases in Metro Manila and nearby regions has started to decline, indicating that actual cases are falling in line with the downtrend predicted this month.
