Capati returns as MRT-3 General Manager

Michael Capati returns as General Manager of MRT-3. He is sworn in by Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon
Newly-appointed MRT-3 General Manager (GM) Michael J. Capati took his oath before Department of Transportation – Philippines Secretary Vivencio “Vince” Dizon, March 31.
GM Capati previously held the same position in 2022 after serving as Director for Operations of MRT-3 from 2017 for five years.
As Director for Operations, GM Capati spearheaded the successful transition of MRT-3 maintenance to government control in November 2017 until the return of its original builder and maintenance provider, Sumitomo-MHI-TESP, in April 2019. He then oversaw MRT-3’s comprehensive rehabilitation and upgrade. Completed in December 2021, this milestone enabled MRT-3 to return to its peak performance with 60kph operating speed.
A man of action, GM Capati’s other accomplishments include the historic first deployment of four-car trains for revenue on March 28, 2022, and the simultaneous operation of three train configurations—three-car CKD train sets, four-car CKD train sets, and a Dalian train set—on March 29.
GM Capati was appointed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. as the new MRT-3 General Manager on March 26.
