Bong Go lauds opening of the Binondo-Intramuros Bridge as part of the Duterte Legacy
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go has acknowledged and commended the “Duterte Legacy” for providing a more comfortable life for all Filipinos through its various infrastructure projects as he, together with President Rodrigo Duterte, attended the inauguration of the Binondo-Intramuros Bridge in Manila on Tuesday, April 5.
The bridge’s inauguration was led by Duterte, who touted the project as one of the significant accomplishments of the Build, Build, Build Program. Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian was also present at the occasion who mentioned that the bridge would be able to handle 30,000 vehicles per day, making travel easier and contributing to the economy.
The four-lane steel arch bridge will connect Intramuros and Binondo and features a bike lane and sidewalk for pedestrians. The project is part of the Build, Build, Build Program and was funded by the China Road and Bridge Corporation.
The bridge was the 16th government-to-government project built through the collaborative efforts of the Philippines and China since 2016, according to Duterte. It was slated to be opened in December last year, but was postponed due to the impact of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, Go previously pledged that he will continue to support infrastructure projects that benefit various regions in order to promote a more equitable distribution of economic opportunities throughout the country.
“Bilang inyong Senador, asahan niyo po lagi kong isusulong ang mga proyekto, panukala at adhikain na makakatulong sa bawat Pilipino,” Go said.
Go has also shown his support for the government’s other infrastructure initiatives. He went on to say that these projects will bring jobs and economic prospects outside of Metro Manila, as well as give a source of income for Filipinos, particularly those who have been laid off as a result of the pandemic.
