‘Black Friday’ protest vs gov’t corruption launch in UP Diliman

The University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman Student Council launched “Black Friday protest” denouncing government corruption in the wake of the anomalous flood control projects and budget cuts on education.

UP Diliman Chancellor Edgardo Vistan endorsed the Black Friday Protest and community of UP againt corruption abd education budget cut, according to UP student council post on its Facebook.

Earlier, at least three deans—particularly from the colleges of Arts and Letters; Science; and Media and Communication—have issued endorsements for walkouts in their local colleges.

According to the Philippine Collegian, the deans of College of Social Work and Community Development; College of Fine Arts; Asian Institute of Tourism; College of Home Economics, also issued similar endorsements.

The protest was launched despite investigation of both the House of Representatives and the Senate to uncovering the questionable infrastructure projects that implicated several lawmakers.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered the creation of a three-member independent commission to probe the anomalies that involved billions of pesos of tax payers’ money.

The “Independent Commission for Infrastructure” will prioritize the investigation of flood control and other infrastructure projects within the last ten years.
