Alex Eala continued to make history as she claimed her first WTA125  title.

Eala defeated Hungary’s Panna Udvardy, 1-6, 7-5, 6-3, in the finals of the Guadalajara 125 Open early Sunday morning (Philippine time).

Aisde from winning her first WTA trophy, this also marked the first time a Filipino has won a WTA title.

Back in June, Eala became the first Filipino to reach a WTA final when she earned a spot in the Eastbourne Open championship match. However, she fell short as Maya Joint took the title.

More recently, Eala also made history by becoming the first Filipino to win a Grand Slam main draw match, defeating Denmark’s Clara Tauson in the opening round of the US Open.
