Filipina tennis star Alex Eala is set to light up Centre Court in Montreal as she makes her main draw appearance at the 2025 Omnium Banque Nationale.

Eala, who continues to rise through the ranks of the professional circuit, will be facing a strong first-round opponent in world no. 65 Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic.

This marks their first-ever meeting.

Vondrousova carries with her a 12-6 win-loss record so far this season.

The Czech boasts a career-high ranking of world no. 6 and is the 2023 Wimbledon champion, underscoring the challenge that lies ahead for the young Filipina.

The Omnium Banque Nationale is a WTA 1000 event played on outdoor hard courts, a surface both players are well-acquainted with. Held in Montreal this year, the Canadian Open attracts some of the sport’s top names and is seen as a critical stop in the lead-up to the US Open.

Eala’s main draw match is expected to kick off early Monday morning (Manila time), with fans eagerly awaiting her match.
