President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. announced 50 percent discount on train fares to all senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Marcos said led the launching of the program at the MRT-3 Santolan-Annapolis station.

“Ang makikinabang sa programang ito, siguro mga 13 milyong seniors at 7 milyong PWDs,” Marcos added.

Earlier, a similar discount was granted to students.

“Alam naman natin ang mga grupong yan, students, PWDs, senior citizens ay talaga namang kailangan ng tulong natin dahil very limited ng kanilang income,” the President said.

This project will increase the fare discount by 30% from the statutory discount of 20%.

The senior citizens and PWDs can avail the discount everyday, according to transporation Secretary Vince Dizon.

He added the government would also study if it can provide fare discounts on other public transportation system.
