Former media practitioner and corporate communication executive Dave Gomez took his oath as secretary of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO).

Gomez, who took his oath of office before Executive Lucas Bersamin, said he will continue to promote government transparency, safeguard press freedom, and defend every citizen’s right to free speech.

“Access to information is not a privilege—it’s a cornerstone of accountability and public trust,” Gomez said to Malacanang media.

Gomez said he would refrain from discussing politics and only talk about the programs and policies of the Marcos administration.

“My role as PCO Secretary will be to communicate and socialize the programs and policies of the President minus the politics. This is what I call my 3Ps Minus One. Programs, Policies minus Politics,” he said.

Further, Gomez said he aims to advance digital transformation within the PCO.

Gomez thanked President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for the trust and confidence given to him in leading the communications arm of the government.

Before joining PCO, Gomez had a long career with Philip Morris, where he held top communications management positions, the Presidential Communications Office said.

His last post at Philip Morris was Director of Global Communications and a member of the management team of Philip Morris Fortune Tobacco Corporation (PMFTC) from October 2019 to June 30, 2025.

Gomez also served as director general of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) from January 2001 to September 2001.

He was also the public relations manager at the advertising firm Hemisphere Leo Burnett from 1999 to 2000, the PCO said.

From 1997 to 1998, Gomez served as assistant media director for the political party Lakas-National Union of Christian Democrats (Lakas-NUCD).

Gomez was a senior reporter for the Philippine Star newspaper from 1986 to 1997.
