Supporters of former President Rodrigo Duterte held a rally today at Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila in support of the former leader facing charges of crime against humanity before the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Likewise, the supporters call for his return, a day after the ICC held a pre-trial in connection with Duterte administration’s war on drug that according to media reports claim thousand lives.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said measures hve been taken to ensure that the gathering will be peaceful and no untoward incident will happen.

“Nakatutok po tayo sa mga napapabalitang rally sites po at normal naman po sa PNP na mag-adjust sa ating alert status, para siguraduhin po na may kahandaan ang ating PNP,” said PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo in an interview.

Fajardo also said that the PNP will ensure that no untoward incidents will take place in this afternoon’s pro-Duterte rally.
