Comelec extends registration period for local absentee voters

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has local absentee voters until March 17, 2025 to register.
In a resolution issued, Comelec decided to move the deadline for Local Absentee Voting registrants (LAV) verification from April 8 to April 11. The transmittal of the list of qualified local absentee voters, local absentee ballots, and other election forms was set to April 27, 2025.
“Whereas, in light of numerous requests for extensions of the aforementioned deadlines from various government units, offices, agencies and departments and considering the observance of Holy Week from April 17 to April 20, 2025, the Commission deems it necessary to amend Comelec Resolution No. 11091,” Comelec said.
Absentee voters in the Philippines include members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), and media practitioners whose duty falls during Election Day.
Government personnel, and members of the AFP and PNP should submit their forms before their heads of offices, supervisors, commanders, or officers next-in-charge.
Meanwhile, media personnel should lodge their LAV forms to the Office of the Regional Election Director for NCR, Office of the City Election Officer, or Office of the Provincial Election Supervisor.
The voting period for absentee voters will start on April 28 until April 30, 2025.
The Philippines will hold its midterm election on May 12, 2025.
