After officials launching citizen movement Hugpong Para Kay Sara, over the weekend in Metro Manila, clamoring for Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio to run for president in 2022.

Another group Sara All 2022, a group of citizen from Leyte recently urged Sara Duterte to reconsider her decision and seek the presidency in 2022.

Bernie Tacoy, who on August 8 spearheaded the ‘Sara All 2022’ for President movement, said while they respect the decision of the presidential daughter, they are still hopeful that she will change her mind.

“If she will not run, it’s her decision to do so. We were not disappointed as we remain hopeful that she will change her mind and run for President,” he said.

Tacoy said he is not discounting the possibility that Mayor Duterte will eventually be persuaded to run for President, considering that the filing of certificates will still be next month or she could fill in as a substitute to a certain presidential candidate.

Tacoy, a businessman from the town of Matag-ob in Leyte, said their group gathered 20,000 signatures on their desire to see Mayor Duterte succeed her father at Malacanang.

Mayor Duterte has earlier confirmed that she will no longer run for President after her father, President Duterte, announced that he will be running for vice president in next year’s elections.
