The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) has filed charges against two individuals who climbed down into the MRT-3’s tracks to take a “selfie”.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the MRT-3 said two men climbed down into the rail tracks at the Quezon Avenue northbound station around 7:15 p.m. on Sunday.

The two, whose acts were caught on a CCTV camera, were identified as Jerald Oliva, 22, a construction worker; and Rey Llasos, 28, a tricycle driver. The rail line’s security guards accosted the two.

“Dahil dito, nagsampa ng kasong violation of RPC Art 155 o Alarms and Scandals ang pamunuan ng MRT-3 sa dalawang lalaki, na dinala sa Quezon City Police District – Kamuning Police Station (PS-10) para sa inquest procedure (Because of this, the MRT-3 management filed a case for violating RPC Art. 155 or Alarms and Scandals against both men who were brought to the Quezon City Police District – Kamuning Police Station for inquest procedure),” the MRT-3 said.

The MRT said unauthorized individuals are prohibited from climbing down into the train tracks due to the danger it poses to them and other passengers.

MRT-3 officer-in-charge (OIC) General Manager Eymard Eje has personally met with both individuals to lecture them on the policies of the MRT-3 and to not take them lightly.

He said the incident should serve as a lesson to other passengers to follow the rail line’s policies.

The MRT-3 also called on its passengers to report similar incidents to transport marshals or security guards stationed at the MRT-3 stations and trains to ensure that such incidents are dealt with. (PNA)
