Morales resigns because of health? Del Rosario resigns too.
PhilHealth President and CEO Ricardo Morales resigned from his post for health reasons. In an interview over dzMM’s Teleradyo, Morales said he would submit his resignation this today to Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea “as a matter of procedure”.
Morales said he talked to Medialdea and Health Secretary Francisco Duque 3rd to relay to President Rodrigo Duterte of his intention to step down.
“Nagusap kami noong isang araw ni Sec Medialdea and Sec Duque at sinabi ko sa kanila na ipa abot sa pangulo na under the circumstances nagsalita na ang kalikasan yung nature (I spoke with Secretary Medialdea and Secretary Duque and I requested that they inform the President that under the circumstances, nature has spoken),” Morales said.
The Philhealth boss, who is currently battling cancer and is now on medical leave, leaves his post amid allegations of corruption in the state insurer.
President Rodrigo Duterte himself said on Tuesday that he would personally endorse cases against the officials implicated in the multibillion peso scandal. (Manila Times)
