Isuzu Introduces New Euro 4 Engine: 1.9-liter RZ4E
Isuzu Philippines Corporation introduced a first in the country with an all-new engine to join their offerings, the 1.9-liter RZ4E Blue Power engine.
What’s special in this latest engine from Isuzu is its displacement of just 1,898cc. Yes, a 1.9-liter engine for the Isuzu mu-X and Isuzu D-Max. But don’t be quick to judge, as this little turbocharged Isuzu engine is capable of producing 150 PS at 3,600rpm with maximum torque reaching 350N-m from 1,800-2,600rpm. Aside from these astounding numbers, the new RZ4E is Euro 4 compliant.
Having the power, the all-new RZ4E engine of Isuzu promises improvement in fuel economy of up to 14.32% compared from its previous 2.5-liter engine which translates to record of 37.27km/l for the manual transmission variant. The automatic transmission records an equally impressive 35.80km/l or up to 48.36% high fuel economy than the 2.5-liter A/T variant.
“The global trend of producing smaller capacity engine that has an output of larger engines has come to Isuzu,” said IPC President Hajime Koso. “The new RZ4E Blue Power engine, carries with it our years of experience as a diesel engine manufacturer. Carefully developed to provide optimized power and torque; this engine performs efficiently, with much care for the environment, running with less noise & vibrations, and is very easy to maintain,” he added.
If you’re wondering how Isuzu made such power in a small displacement engine, the all-new RZ4E was developed with new technological features like Diamond Like Coated (DLC) piston pins, DLC fuel injector pins and new fracture split design connecting rods which contributed for an ingenious combustion system. The new RZ4E also features a new water-cooled Variable Geometry Turbocharger System (VGS) which gives excellent throttle response even at low RPMs while maintaining temperature with its heat resistant material and water cooled central turbine body.
The RZ4E also boasts of its low maintenance cost which diesel-powered vehicle owners of today have always dreamed of. The Hydraulic Valve Lash Adjuster (HVLA) and the unified drive-belt for the alternator and air-condition system compressor and a cartridge-type oil filter are economical features of the RZ4E that will require for lower cost of service in the future.
The RZ4E engine was launched in the Isuzu mu-X and is available starting at PhP 1,395,000 for the base model 4×2 LS M/T, PhP 1,570,000 for the 4×2 LS-A M/T and PhP 1,595,000 for the 4×2 LS-A A/T variant. If you’re interested for the RZ4E D-Max variants, prices are soon to be released.
