A new survey by OCTA Research released Monday suggested that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s ratings improved, and Vice President Sara Duterte sustained her majority trust score but saw a decline in performance ratings during the first quarter of the 2026.
According to the OCTA survey that polled 1,200 respondents, Marcos trust rating rose by 6 percentage points to 54 percent, while 30 percent expressed distrust and 16 percent were undecided.
While his performance rating improved by 4 percentage points to 55 percent, while 26 percent were dissatisfied and 19 percent were undecided.
“These results point to strengthened public confidence and a more favorable evaluation of the President’s performance compared to the previous quarter,” OCTA survey said.
Meanwhile, Vice President Sara Duterte retained her majority trust rating but recorded a decline in performance score, OCTA said.
The Vice President’s trust rating edged up by 2 percentage points to 55 percent, which was statistically unchanged from her previous 53-percent trust score.
While, 26 percent expressed distrust and 19 percent were undecided regarding her trustworthiness.
Her performance rating declined by 4 percentage points to 50 percent, OCTA said.
Nearly 28 percent expressed dissatisfaction with Duterte’s performance, while 22 percent were undecided.
“These results indicate stable public trust in the Vice President, alongside a softening in performance evaluations,” the survey firm said.
The overall results of the survey may highlight a widening gap in public perception, according to OCTA.
“[W]hile assessments of the President are becoming more defined and positive, views of the Vice President are becoming more mixed and differentiated,” it said.
“This divergence may reflect evolving public expectations shaped by both domestic political developments and external pressures, including global geopolitical tensions and their potential economic impacts, and may influence how Filipinos evaluate leadership responsiveness and governance in the coming period.”
The survey was conducted from March 19 to 25, 2026, using face-to-face interviews, as the House Committee on Justice launched its hearing proper on the impeachment case of Duterte. It has a ±3 percent margin of error at a 95 percent confidence level.
The survey was also conducted amid the early weeks of the US-Israeli war with Iran.
