President Ferdinand ”Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has extended to May 15, 2026 the deadline for filing annual income tax returns (AITRs).

In a social media post, Marcos said I extended the deadline of the filing of the 2025 Annual Income Tax Returns from April 15 to May 15, 2026.

”Mas may oras ang bawat taxpayer na makapag-file nang maayos, kasama ang lahat ng kailangang dokumento, at walang ipapataw na penalties,” he added.

Individuals earning purely compensation income may not need to file if they qualify for substituted filing, where employers handle the submission of taxes on their behalf.

However, mixed-income earners, self-employed individuals, freelancers, and those with multiple employers are required to file their own ITRs.

The Bureau of Internal Revenue launched in March its Electronic Tax (eTax) Filing or Tax Assistance Center at the BIR National Training Center Auditorium to provide on-site support for the preparation and electronic filing of ITRs.
