MMDA inspect roads ahead of holidays

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) started its road clearing operations around Quezon City early morning Friday amid the expected heavy Christmas rush traffic.
MMDA Special Operations Group-Strike Force head Gabriel Go said this operation prioritized Mabuhay Lanes that can be used as alternate routes and major thoroughfares for commuters.
“First and foremost a few days from now it’s already Christmas… As our means to somehow help in the decongestion of traffic, itong mga intensified clearing operations po natin, ito po ay nakafocus sa mga Mabuhay Lanes, alternate routes, major thoroughfares to ensure na ang ating mga motorista meron silang madadaanan na maayos, malinis and also syempre pag na-traffic sa major thoroughfares, meron silang pwedeng ibang daanan.”
Among the priority roads inspected by the operation are the following:
- C.P. Garcia Ave.
- Katipunan Ave.
- P. Tuazon Blvd.
- N. Domingo St.
- Natib St.
- Aurora Blvd.
- Batino St.
- Molave St.
- Narra St.
- Tindalo St.
- Anonas St.
- Kamias Road
Some of the violations recorded during the operation are sidewalk obstructions, illegal parking, improper dress code of motorcycle riders, and traffic signs violations.
Aside from following traffic rules, Go also urged the public, especially commuters and mallgoers, to travel earlier than usual and have more patience to prevent road rage and other untoward incidents.
