The Department of Transportation (DOTR) disclosed that a third tunnel boring machine for the Metro Manila Subway Project at Camp Aguinaldo Station were deployed.

Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said the new tunnel boring machine would begin drilling from Camp Aguinaldo toward Anonas Station, covering a distance of around 1.2 kilometers.

Lopez noted that the original timeline was delayed due to right-of-way issues.

Once the initial drilling begins, the machine is expected to cover 7 to 9 meters per day and reach Anonas Station in about six months.

The DOTr added that the tunnel boring process would have minimal vibration and little to no impact on road traffic, as all excavation work was being done underground.

By January next year, tunnel boring activities are also expected to start from Corinthian Gardens toward Ortigas Station.

Out of 33 affected properties in the project area, negotiations for 12 properties were ongoing.

The Metro Manila Subway Project will feature 17 stations, stretching from Valenzuela City to Parañaque City.

The government aims to showcase an operational train by 2028, with full operations targeted by 2032.
