Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon said more dismissal and cases filing against individuals involved in the flood control anomalies will happen in the coming days.

Dizon said three DPWH executives have been dismissed, 17 have been suspended, and cases have been filed against 26 individuals linked to alleged ghost or substandard flood control projects in Bulacan.

He added that he has also accepted the courtesy resignation of an undersecretary, and that more could be coming.

He said they have seen the pattern in the flood control project anomalies in Bulacan, and expect that the same could be happening in other parts of the country.

“We will freeze assets, file non-bailable cases, dismiss those involved and make them accountable,” he said, adding that private individuals in cahoots with government officials will similarly face cases.

“We will do these repeatedly in ghost and substandard projects that we will uncover,” he added.

He acknowledged the pessimism of some as to the prosecution of the guilty.

“Hindi natin sila masisis. Nakita na natin itong story na ito noong nakaraan.  (We can’t blame them, We have this story in the past).  But I’m comforted with the words of the President that no one involved in the corruption will be spared,” he said.

Dizon said he will not join the ongoing rallies at EDSA and Luneta, “But in spirit, we support them.”
