MANILA — The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) on Tuesday presented to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. the 2026 National Expenditure Program (NEP) amounting to P6.79-trillion.

The 2026 NEP is 7.4 percent higher than this year’s budget,  according to DBM.

DBM is expected to formally submit the NEP to Congress on August 13, which signals the start of the legislative branch’s annual review of the proposed national budget.

The proposed budget is anchored on a so-called “Agenda for Prosperity” which seeks to fund programs geared at “nurturing future-ready generations to achieve the full potential of the nation.”

Earlier, Marcos Jr. warned lawmakers against insertions in next year’s budget, saying that he would not sign a fresh spending bill if it is ‘not duly aligned with the National Expenditure Program.”
