MANILA – Six ranking police officials have been included in the latest reorganization of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

In a Dec. 19 order that took effect Friday, PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil designated Southern Police District (SPD) Director Brig. Gen. Bernard Yang as the new chief of the Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG).

Yang assumed the position vacated by Maj. Gen. Ronnie Cariaga, who was reassigned to the Area Police Command in Northern Luzon.

Cariaga was previously administratively relieved over alleged anomalies during a raid on a Philippine offshore gaming operator hub in Manila.

Brig. Gen. Manuel Abrugena, Deputy Director of Special Action Force, will be the acting SPD chief, replacing Yang.

The SPD covers the cities of Makati, Pasay, Taguig, Parañaque, Las Piñas, and Muntinlupa, as well as the municipality of Pateros.

Meanwhile, four police colonels got new assignments in the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

Col. Erosito Miranda was assigned officer-in-charge of Regional Staff at the NCRPO headquarters while Col. Amante Daro, Col. Randy Glenn Silvio and Col. Rodel Pastor were chosen to be Acting Deputy Directors for Administration of the Northern Police District and Quezon City Police District and Acting Deputy Director for Operations of the SPD, respectively.

Marbil earlier said the reshuffle is necessary to “preposition” officials who are fit for their next assignments. (PNA)
