37K Taxis and TNVS back in service says LTFRB

About 36,994 units of Taxis and TNVS have been approved by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) service the commuters of Metro Manila beginning today, July 15 2020 broken down as 18, 815 TNVS units and 18,179 na taxis

The return of taxis and Transport Network Vehicle Services (TNVS) units from different Transport Network Companies (TNCs) is in accordance to Memorandum Circular (MC) 2020-018 or the “Guidelines for the Operations of Taxis and TNVS during the Period of GCQ.”

During this period, the LTFRB said there will strictly be no increase in the fares of approved taxi and TNVS units and only cashless transactions are allowed. LTFRB also reiterated the use of face masks for both drivers and passengers of these transport services.

The LTFRB also reminded operators and drivers of taxis at TNVS to follow the health protocols outlined in MC 2020-018 to avoid spreading COVID-19. These include the wearing of face masks, cleaning and disinfecting the vehicle unit before and after servicing a passenger, the installation of non-permeable and transparent materials to separate them passengers from drivers, and follow the passenger seating capacity Based on the guidelines set by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) and the Department of Transportation.
